According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol; on Monday, June 16 Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a previous physical domestic dispute that had occurred on Sunday, June 15.
On June 17 Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputies and NYSP K9 Units were still searching for the suspect for his arrest in the town of Augusta just after 3 p.m. As a result the suspect, Philip N. Mavica, Ilion, fled the scene on foot. Deputies engaged in a brief foot pursuit and apprehended Mavica after a Deputy deployed his Taser on him.
Deputies arrested Mavica and transported him to the Wynn Hospital for evaluation. After he was released deputies transported Mavica to the Kurt Wyman Law Enforcement Building where he was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, resisting arrest, two counts of criminal mischief and two counts
of harassment.
Mavica also had an active arrest warrant stemming from a previous failure to comply with law enforcement on June 9. He was charged with reckless driving, unlawful fleeing from a police officer and several vehicle and traffic law violations. These charges are returnable to Sangerfield Town Court.
Deputies transported Mavica to Oneida County Jail where he was held while awaiting Centralized Arraignment. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division received assistance from the New York State Police, The Oriskany Falls Fire Department, Main St Auto Care and Central Oneida County Ambulance.
