As Honda Powersports continues to deliver an off-road experience for the average consumer, its their continued reliability and dedication to consumers that keeps buyers coming back for more.
In Grasso’s Garage this month, it’s all about utility, and that of the 2026 Honda FourTrax Recon 250.
Wrapped in familiar Honda Red, the Recon is ready for everything off road. Our tester was powered by a 229cc air-cooled OHV 4-stroke single-cylinder engine and 5-speed semi-automatic transmission with reverse. Other important specifications include a 5.1-inch travel independent double-wishbone front suspension and 4.9-inch travel swingarm with single shock.
Its compact design makes it perfect for back-of-the-truck moving – easy to use and maneuver. From hunting and trail riding, to around-the-house utility, the FourTrax Recon 250 is fit for all consumers looking for four-wheel fun. Riding at 31.2 inches tall, the FourTrax Recon 250 was small enough to fit in most places and lightweight enough to pick up and move if you were to get stuck, yet also boasted a front rack capacity of 33 pounds and a rear rack capacity of 66 pounds. Along with a towing capacity of 500 pounds, it was easy to tow a small utility trailer or even yard attachments for easy usage.
Two colors are offered on the FourTrax Recon 250, including our Hero Red tester and Black Forest Green, both under $5K base price. Additional accessories that are available include an outdoor cover and a trailer hitch kit. A recoil starter was also available for those who want a backup plan in the event the battery dies.
While Honda Powersports continues to tear up the trails and provide off-road excellence to its consumers, we recognize the FourTrax Recon 250 as just the universal one for many. Similar to our recently reviewed Pioneer, there isn’t much that Honda manufactures that doesn’t work for outdoorsy people abound. Have you seen the urban- electric scooter that folds up like a suitcase, branded as the Motocompacto? We could be adding that to the permanent fleet for that city-sidewalk-like travel in the near future.
