The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Syracuse man after an investigation into a fatal motor vehicle accident in July.
On Friday, July 11, 2025, at approximately 6:42 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of 1137 State Route 31, the town of Sullivan, regarding a motor vehicle
accident with unknown injuries.
Upon arriving on scene, deputies learned that a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by Robert Echols, 21, Syracuse, had been travelling eastbound on state Route 31 when it exited the southern shoulder of the roadway, striking an embankment and rolling over several times.
Echols and his two passengers, identified as Secret Davis, 21, Liverpool and Kiara Coello, 22, Rochester, were ejected from the vehicle during the collision. Rescue personnel pronounced Coello deceased on scene, while Echols and Davis were transported to local hospitals for treatment of serious injuries.
Following a lengthy police investigation, which included the issuance and execution of search warrants, authorities learned that Echols was intoxicated at the time of the collision.
On Thursday, Dec. 11, authorities arrested Echols on a Superior Court Indictment Warrant, charging him with:
– two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.
– one count of second-degree manslaughter.
– one count of first-degree vehicular manslaughter.
– two counts of aggravated vehicular assault.
– three counts of first-degree vehicular assault.
– one count of second-degree assault.
– one count of aggravated DWI.
– one count of DWAI combined influence of drugs or alcohol.
– one count of reckless driving.
Following arrest processing, authorities arraigned Echols in Madison County Court. Following the arraignment, authorities remanded Echols to the custody of the Madison County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
