DEERFIELD, N.Y. — Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-119, announced the successful delivery of a $60,000 state grant from the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department.
Accepting the check on behalf of his department, Deerfield Chief James Griffiths thanked Buttenschon for her continued support and commitment to the county’s first responders:
“Assemblywoman Buttenschon has been a steadfast advocate for emergency services, particularly the volunteer fire service,” Griffiths said. “She recognizes the financial challenges associated with emergency preparedness and response, and has consistently championed funding initiatives to support local fire departments and agencies. The Deerfield Fire District is deeply grateful for her continued support and advocacy.”
Buttenschon secured the funding, which will equip the department with life-saving tools,
including 10 automated external defibrillators, a new top-of-the-line cardiac monitor/defibrillator and a training AED module.
These new additions will enhance the department’s ability to respond swiftly and effectively during cardiac emergencies, reinforcing its commitment to protecting lives with cutting-edge equipment and rigorous training.
“Today’s presentation, following this week’s statewide First Responders Appreciation Day, reminds us of the daily courage and quiet sacrifices made by these remarkable men and women,” Buttenschon said.
“They are the steady hands in moments of fear, the strength our community relies on in its most fragile hours,” she continued. “As long as they continue to protect us, we must continue to stand beside them, equipping them, honoring them and never forgetting the selfless service that defines who they are.”
