The New York State Police officials have announced that they have issued a total of 9,912 tickets statewide during the Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign.
The special enforcement period began on Friday, Aug. 29 and ran through Monday, Sept. 1.
During the campaign, which was partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, state police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols and ticketed impaired and distracted drivers.
During the campaign troopers arrested a total 225 people and charged them with DWI.
As part of the enforcement, Troopers targeted speeding and aggressive drivers across the state. Below is a sampling of the total tickets that were issued.
– speeding: 3,519.
– distracted driving: 311.
– seatbelt violations: 485.
– Move Over Law: 211.
During the 2024 Labor Day weekend enforcement campaign, which ran from Friday, Aug. 30 through Monday, Sept. 2 the state police issued 10,240 total tickets and arrested and charged 232 people for DWI.
