On Sunday, June 29 at 3:28 a.m. state police responded to a residence on state Route 5 in the town of Herkimer, Herkimer County, for a report of a stabbing.
On arrival, troopers located a 45-year-old male inside the residence with two visible stab wounds to his body. Troopers interviewed the male who stated that he got into an altercation with his brother. He also said that his brother stabbed him with a kitchen knife and then fled the residence.
MOVAC Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the male to Wynn Hospital where he was treated for non-life threating stab wounds.
Authorities later located the suspected, Keith M. Lamont, 40, Frankfort in the city of Rome. They took Lamont into custody with assistance from the Rome Police Department.
Authorities transported Lamont to SP Herkimer where he was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony and criminal possession of a weapon, a class A misdemeanor.
Authorities then took Lamont to the town of Herkimer Court where he was arraigned and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond.
