Volunteers from the Central and Northern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross have opened two shelters for those affected by the storms that raked the region Saturday night and Sunday morning.
In Oneida County, the shelter is at St. Joseph’s Church, 5478 Stokes Lee Center Road in Lee Center.
In Madison County, the site is the Canastota VFW Post, 3835 Canal Road, in Canastota.
The shelters will be open 24 hours for the foreseeable future, with a place to stay, food and water.
One case involving storm damage has been opened in Madison County. Two adults and one child were displaced from their home on Canal Street. They were provided with financial assistance, which can be used for shelter, food and clothing.
In the coming days, Red Cross staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected by the storms as they navigate the road to recovery.
