Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-119, will host a Free Narcan Training event in partnership with the Center for Family Life and Recovery. This event will educate local business owners and community members on how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose using Narcan.
The event will happen Friday, May 16 from 10–11 a.m. at the Utica State Office Building, 207 Genesee St., Utica, first floor in conference rooms A & B.
Participants will receive a free Narcan kit, and CFLR will also introduce support resources available through their Employee Assistance Program and recovery services.
This initiative builds on Assemblywoman Buttenschon’s landmark legislation, Bill A.1588-A, which was signed into law in December 2024 and requires all public buildings across New York State to be equipped with life-saving opioid antagonists.
With opioid overdoses continuing to claim lives across New York, Buttenschon is taking action to ensure businesses and community members are equipped with the knowledge and tools to save lives. This event highlights the next step in overdose prevention: education and training.
